      Has anyone read the work of cleric-novelist Canon Sheehan, parish priest of Doneraile, who died in ? I am making my second effort to read The Triumph of Failure (presumably the book from which Ruth Dudley Edwards took the title of her Pearse biography). I also tried to read My New Curate before, and failed.   It was this more than the other books that established the literary fame of Canon Sheehan of Doneraile. It presented a series of scenes in the life of a very ordinary rural parish priest – and aside from its value as a novel, it is full of social interest for the historian.
